“Books are not meant for Drawing Room Decoration” Dr. S.M. Moin Qureshi
Dr. S. M. Moin Qureshi an eminent scholar and an accomplished writer of 21 books graced the occasion of IUNC Readers Club inaugural seminar on “Readers are Leaders”. The event took place in the newly built Media Studio of IUNC. An unexpectedly high number of students attended the session.
Muffarrah Malik-BBA, the Secretary of club explained the Aims & Objectives of the Society. The Club President, Waqar Siddiqui-BBA, paid tribute to the Chief Guest and quoted many of his writings. Salman Qureshi and Salma Ahmed, both MBA students, spoke on the importance of reading. Dr. Nadeem Hanif, our Visiting Faculty and an ardent follower of Dr. Moin’s writings for the last 20 years highlighted the services of the Chief Guest and appreciated his role in literature.
Finally, Dr. S.M. Moin Qureshi spoke in his own unique idiosyncratic satirical style and quoted many of his sarcastic writings with the students. He spoke at length about the importance of reading and appreciated the efforts of Iqra University in developing and harnessing the rapidly dwindling reading habits amongst the younger generation. He expressed his pleasant surprise at the turn-out and admitted that he expected no more than 10-12 students for the event. He pointed out that the books have become a nice and stylish way of decorating Drawing Rooms, which, he said, sadly should not be the case. In the end he was presented with an IU memorabilia and he acknowledged the efforts of IU by donating few of his own written books to the IUNC Library.
Iqra University North Nazimabad Campus expresses its deepest gratitude to Dr. S. M. Moin Qureshi for taking out time from his busy schedule and speaking to its students. We hope and we expect that we all continue to play our due roles; in our own separate spheres; in the development of this country.
