Dr. Rameez Rahman

  • PhD, Delft University of Technology, Netherlands
  • Masters from University of Essex, UK

Dr. Rahman is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Iqra University. He is amongst the very few people in the computing world who have worked on both sides of the fence: the practical side of deployed systems (during his work in the software industry); and the research oriented side during his PhD work at Delft University of Technology.

After completing his Masters from University of Essex, UK, he landed the position of Project Manager at an adjunct company of Financial Systems where he catered to several prestigious financial organizations including CitiBank, American Express, and US Trust etc. In 2007, he joined the Tribler group at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands for his doctoral studies. During his PhD, he worked on the overlap of computing and social sciences and implemented many ideas from the social sciences for the design of novel distributed systems.

His paper, “Design Space Analysis for Modeling Incentives in Distributed Systems”, presented several protocols that are more efficient than the popular Bit Torrent protocol, and was published at the number one computer network conference in the world, ACM SIGCOMM. Apart from research, Dr Rahman also played an active role as a software architect for the group’s Peer-to-Peer system, Tribler.
